First introduced in 1963, 470s have been an Olympic class since 1976. Since 1988 it has been an Olympic class for both double-handed men & women. As a result the sailor will find large fleets internationally as well as on a national level. It is highly technical and developed but strict one-design class rules keep this high performance boat affordable. In spite of being raced at the highest level, the 470 still offers plenty of fun for the less experienced sailors and is also widely used for university and club sailing.

You will already know that our SZ-470 is the most successful boat in the world for more than 10 years now. The most outstanding results we could achieve in 2000 and 2004 by winning both, the World Championships and Olympic Gold Medals in Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004. And also in the last years our boats have been extremely successful. Numerous national and international regattas as well as National, European and World Championships have been and are being won in our Ziegelmayer-470s.

Also regarding performance, quality and fit out our SZ-470 is leading world wide. All hulls are built in the same mould and the specifications of all our boats are exactly the same as the SZ-470s of the top international teams such as the Australians. However, there may be small differences in the fit out due to requirements of our customers. Due to our international experience it is no problem for us to fit out a boat exactly to the personal specifications of our customers.
