In a Gel type battery, the conventional wet electrolyte is replaced with a semi solid electrolyte in the form of a gel. This means that even if the casing is broken or the battery is inverted, no caustic and hazardous liquid can escape. The battery is provided with a patented pressure relief valve, which maintains the casing pressure due to temperature changes or charging. VETUS Gel batteries are suitable for intensive use. They will withstand multiple and deep discharge cycles, without any loss of capacity. Because the plates are supported by the gel electrolyte, these batteries are also very resistant to shock and vibration. As a result, they have a life span which can be more than double that of a conventional wet battery. VETUS Gel batteries are maintenance-free and have an extremely low self discharge rate, meaning easy engine starting even after long winter storage.
