The sterntube is supplied with heavy steel boss aft, for direct welding into the vessel. Where required struts for hull attachment can be supplied. The inboard end is fitted with a flanged stuffing box gland/bearing as standard, but other types of seal can be supplied. A typical installation is shown in the diagram.
