The VARIPROP XLS is a heavy-duty feathering propeller developed for tall ships and superyachts with high power requirements. Its robust construction and large blade area provide high thrust and reliable performance, combined with low drag while sailing and precise control during harbour manoeuvres.
The design and construction comply with propeller classifications used in commercial shipping. With an approved engine output of up to 550 kW / 750 HP and sizes up to 62” (approx. 1.6 m diameter), the VARIPROP XLS occupies a unique position among feathering propellers. It is designed for vessels without a controllable pitch propeller system and can be installed on conventional shafts.
A key feature of the VARIPROP XLS is its independently adjustable external pitch control (patented). Forward and reverse pitch can be adjusted separately within seconds, even underwater. This allows precise fine-tuning of reverse thrust and prop walk, as well as independent optimisation of forward performance in terms of thrust, speed, and fuel efficiency.
