International series sailing dinghy : SPLASH Splash
The Splash, the international one-design class, was developed by Roel Wester, a very successful single-handed one-design class sailor himself, and the renowned designer Koos de Ridder.
The Splash is intended for sailors who leave the Optimist, but are still too light and too young for the follow-up classes.
The Splash is a dinghy with excellent sailing qualities and the modern design is attractive to the young sailors all over the world.
The Splash is available in various colours and can easily transported on the roof of a car, but there are, of course road trailers for 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 8 Splashes.
The Splash has a very wide and deep cockpit with plenty of room to move, while sitting-out on the narrow side decks of the Splash is very comfortable.
The Splash is a strictly one-design class, which implies that all sailors race with identical material.
All ropes, spars, rudders, dagger boards and, above all, the sails are identical. The strongly tapered, aluminum mast greatly enhances sailing pleasure that one gets from sailing the Splash.
When you weight 48 kg you can easily start sailing the Splash and take part in national and international races, as long as you are under 19 year of age.
