LNG carriers cargo ship
138.000 -> 266.000 M³ SAMSUNG HEAVY INDUSTRIES

As special ships transporting natural gases liquefied
at -163 degrees, LNG Carriers are ships with high added
value. Samsung Heavy Industries has received orders for
a total of 95 units of LNG Carriers as of December 2011,
and delivered 70 units with orders remaining for 25 units,
dominating the industry.

In 2001, the company developed an electricity-powered
LNG Carrier that offers excellent operating performance
and lower fuel costs, and built the world’s largest 266,000
㎥-class LNG Carrier in 2008 and 2009. In 2011,
the company proved its technological excellence again by
successfully becoming the first Korean shipbuilder to
develop a cargo hold for LNG Carriers, a key LNG Carrier
facility.

SHI has also pioneered the development of innovative
new ships like LNG-FSRU, which enables the vaporization
and storage of LNG by importers, as well as Arctic shuttle
tankers.
