A great accessory to have with your downwind gennaker is an ATN sleeve. This allows you to hoist the sail with the sock covering the sail. When you are ready a simple operation of pulling an endless rope gets your sail flying and your boat moving. Dousing the sail is just as easy. Simply sail dead down wind, ease the spinnaker sheet and pull the sock over the sails. In moments the sail is under control inside the sock. Then you can lower the whole sail and sock onto the deck or down the forward hatch.
