Cruising sailboat
SAGA 35 Saga

- 11.16m 36' 7"ft Modern sailboat racing rules do a good job of assessing what makes a boat fast. They tend to penalize those design features that create a speedy hull. This leads designers to use hull shapes they know are slow. For the sake of a lower rating, the rules may even reward various undesirable features. An unfortunate consequence of racing success is that many production cruising boats have been adaptations of outdated racing hulls.

As a cruising sailor, you undoubtedly think the natural rules of the sea are more important than any rating rule created by man. You often find yourself sailing with only two adults aboard, perhaps a child or two. You don't want a boat that needs six or more heavyweights sitting on the rail. You just want to get from point A to B, safely, comfortably and quickly. Our primary focus was to be on the laws of hydrodynamics, common sense and cruising experience.

Even at first glance our MAX-WATERLINE™ hull stands out in the crowd of polyester clones. Her near-plumb bow and maximized sailing length are a direct result of our heritage. A longer waterline creates a yacht with the hull speed and sailing potential of a conventional larger cruiser. Yet the modest beam and moderately light displacement produce less drag and provide the near effortless sailing of a smaller boat. The easily driven hull form requires less energy than heavier, wider cruisers to attain comparable speeds. Under sail, our yaghts will reel off the miles with uncommon ease.
