Spreaders are a very important part of the rig configuration. The number per mast is based upon the design input of the architect and the wishes of the client.
As a standard, Rondal uses aluminium closed spreaders built from a simple extrusion. For larger rigs, forward and aft leading and trailing sections are used with the aluminium cover and bottom plates welded in.
A slot in the leading and trailing section is designed for the Ertacetal chafing strip. Once in place, this strip protects the halyards and other lines against damage.
If the design of the yacht requires a different approach, spreaders can be made in an open construction by using the standard components.
High gloss, open stainless steel spreaders were designed and produced for classic yachts such as Endeavour, Shamrock and Borkumriff.
