The intended main purpose of the vessel is the survey of measures being conducive to the maintenance of the fish population. The main operational area are the waters of EC states, mainly North Sea and Baltic Sea. Design and outfitting of the vessel allow world-wide operation.

Twin propulsion plant gives the vessel a maximum speed of 20 kts. The main diesel engines and / or the electric propulsion motors transmit their power via reduction gears to controllable pitch propellers.

Two high performance flap-type rudders and one 400 kW bow thruster guarantee vessel's excellent ma-noeuvring characteristics.

The seakeeping behaviour of the vessel can be influenced by means of a fin stabilization system. To carry out control missions at sea two fast and robust rescue/working boats are available. With jet drive respectively twinscrews the boat will have a speed of more than 30 kts.

The "SEEADLER" is the most sophisticated and best equipped vessel of the units operated by the Federal Office for agriculture and nourishment.
