PAUGER 70-1996-2001
Pauger Carbon
- 15m
49' 3"ft
Pauger 70-s are perhaps the most beautiful sailing yachts on Lake Balaton. They were designed by Dénes Paulovits in 1995 when he tried to modernize the traditional long and narrow style skerry cruisers popular in the first half of the twentieth century.
The hull design is based on the lines of the 40 sqm Skerry Cruiser but with a fin keel and built of light balsa core sandwich construction. This allows a larger sail area over 270 m2 off the wind. Therefore a Pauger 70 looks classical but she is a worthy rival of the modern boats built for speed.
Pauger 70s have already appeared in some great round the lake races. 1997 "Anna" finished 16th (12th among the monohulls) on the Bol d'Or whereas "Batman Forever" was 2nd (5 seconds behind the first) in the Mono-Proto Moderni class at the Centomiglia in 1998.
Pauger 70's are always on the top in the round the Lake Balaton races mainly on strong wind days. "Anna" was the winner of the stormy White Ribbon in 2000 when the Liberas and Assos were all capsized or sank.
Today the Pauger 70 fleet consists of 8 boats. All of them are sailing with Pauger Carbon rigs.
