Three kind of spinnakers have been designed and tuned up after a deep and careful analysis of the best performances our sails got at national and international events: VMG, Runner and All Round. VMG is usually the lightest and smallest spinnaker on board. In the "Upwind/Downwind" race course you are often forced to cover downwind legs and when you have to bear away in light wind conditions, you need to descend with smaller angles in order to keep the boat speed high enough. Contrary to all expectations, with a light wind a flat profile spinnaker "floats" better. VMG has a "frees bee" profile specifically designed to get the highest speed with the best possible angle. RUNNER to be used when wind speed increases. It allows to bear away without losing in speed. The profile of this spinnaker is deeper, with more constant curves and its dimensions are the maximum allowed. ALL ROUND The All Round spinnaker gives its better performances in races with reach legs and generally in in-shore and off-shore races where downwind legs are very long and wind intensity and angle are often changing. For smaller yachts where only a limited number of sails is allowed aboard, the All Round spinnaker, made of fabric heavier than a VMG, is the best solution.
