SPACE is an innovative system perfected and patented by OLIMPIC SAILS. SPACE makes it possible to make sails with a continuous yarn, without limit to size, using extremely low-stretch fibres. These fibres are continuous from their starting point to the final destination, and assure a better shape than systems using separate lengths of fibres. SPACE uses a direct lamination process that eliminates any possibility of delamination, a problem common to other systems. The binder used is such that it always remains active as it is not subject to drying but above all because there is no possibility of air being in-cluded in the lamination process. SPACE is light thanks to the minimal use of binder, precisely controlled by a process of ca-lendering. SPACE is practical because the nature of the always-active binder is soft, and it has also been well-tested as it has for time been used in other sailmaking processes; this renders the sail extremely flexible and easy to manage. SPACE is long-lasting because the fibres used are not impregnated with binder, which would render them more brittle and subject to snapping. Space is not subject to shrinkage whilst the sail is made, as occurs in other products baked at high temperature.
