The Hurricane 110 Rib was studied and designed exclusively by Motomarine, for military use utilizing the latest development of naval architecture science and technology. During her design the naval architecture test tank of NTUA (National Technical University of Athens) was used.
Hurricanes are in service of the Hellenic Coast Guard whilst similar crafts with the same hull are currently in use successfully by the General Army Administration Special Forces.
The craft, thanks to her very deep V hull (especially at the bow with a 60 degree entrance) and her negative hard chine, has excellent sea keeping with high speeds in bad weather conditions avoiding the transfer of vertical and lateral acceleration to the crew during craft pounding on waves and also the entrance of water spray in the craft.
The hull was designed with a double step at the aft section with turbulence relief openings at the chine resulting in the decrease of hull drag and the improvement of planning acceleration.
