The sister vessel of the Norwegian Escape and second ship in the Breakaway PLUS class will be delivered in the spring of 2017. This will be the twelfth cruise ship to be constructed by MEYER WERFT for Norwegian Cruise Line. However, the two new luxury liners will be the biggest, with space for max. 4,200 passengers and a gross tonnage of 168,750.
The variety of cabins for which the Norwegian Cruise Line vessels are known is set to increase yet again with the Breakaway PLUS cruise ships: options are available for families in several different areas and studios for single passengers are situated throughout the ship. Wellness fans and lovers of luxury will also find all they are looking for on board the Norwegian Joy: an exclusive area called ‘The Haven‘ offers suites to suit all tastes.
As with the Norwegian Escape, all five engines of the Norwegian Joy will be equipped with innovative scrubber units for effective emissions treatment, ensuring environmentally friendly travel.
After its completion, Norwegian Joy will begin its first voyage to China in summer 2017. The ship has been developed specially for the Asian market and will be used solely for Chinese passengers.
