Description

The Homeric was adopted by Holland America Line in 1988 and renamed in Westerdam. The was overhauled from autumn 1989 to spring 1990 at MEYER WERFT and was extended by an additional 40 meters to an overall length of 240 meters. Never before has a cruise of these dimensions been extended at such a level – at that time an enormous challenge for MEYER WERFT.
Among the most important remodeling and extension measures were additional passenger and crew cabins. Furthermore the ship was equipped with a two-story show lounge that offers room for more than 700 people. Sports activities and the gastronomic offers were extended as well. There is a pool area on the sun deck with Magrodome, a sliding glass roof. Thus, the guests may enjoy swimming even when journeying in colder regions. When being in warmer, regions passengers may relax under the open skies.
