The filling of a ship's hold requires a stream of material to move downward through the hatch and then outward to occupy the space under the deck surrounding the hatch. Our high-speed centrifugal-type material ship trimmers provide fast loading and permit a well-placed load in the hold.

Metso's ship trimmer are made in several styles and sizes. The three most common types in use are cable-supported, boom-mounted and hatch-type, although special trimmers can be built to suit any feasible situation.

Cable-supported ship trimmers are typically used when loading materials that are dustless enough to permit an operator to remain in the hold. Boom-mounted ship trimmers with above-deck controls are used when loading dusty materials that precludes having operators in the hold.

The Hatch-type ship trimmer allows material to be supplied from a sloping chute rather than from a boom conveyor.

This type would be preferred to the cable-supported trimmer where the nature of the loaded material makes it impractical for operators to remain in the hold.
