With a hopper capacity of 18,000m³, the Amsterdam earns her place in the elite of jumbo trailer dredgers. A further development of predecessor Lelystad, she is built to a very high specification and fitted with an abundance of high-tech equipment in the field of integrated and automated dredging, propulsion and navigation systems. Her length of 156 m, breadth of 28 m, and depth of 11.85 m make her one of the largest vessels built at the Merwede yard. She was build for Anglo Dutch Dredging Company, the UK subsidiary of Ballast Nedam Dredging of the Netherlands and is now operated by van Oord.
