For those dependent on battery power, the Merlin Power Gauge Lite acts as a fuel gauge to provide 'at a glance' information about your battery bank. Power Gauge is available in either 'Lite' or 'Pro' versions. The Lite is aimed for end users with basic knowledge and the Pro provides more detailed information for professionals. Power Gauge answers questions such as: 'Can I run this from the batteries all day?', 'Are my batteries charged yet?' and 'Is the alternator keeping up with the load demand?'. Merlin was the first company to introduce comprehensive battery monitors into the UK and our experiences have played a huge part in developing PowerGauge. For example; each unit is supplied as standard with a large 500A rated shunt. In multi bank applications, if batteries can be paralleled for emergency engine starting, cranking current will flow through the shunt overloading the 100 or 200A rated units supplied with competitors monitors. The shunt size can also be altered if necessary through programming to suit other applications. We have made improvements to the algorithm used to calculate when batteries are fully charged, and deterioration of their ability to accept charge over time. This leads to the Power Gauge Lite remaining accurate for much longer than alternative products.
