The Menger Cat Daysailer is designed in the tradition of the racing cats of the 1890's. At that time catboats were raced extensively, using sandbags for ballast. When tacking the crew moved to windward and carried a sandbag with them. These "Sandbaggers" as they were called, were known for their speed and excitement. We have captured the feeling of those tunes yet produced a strong, safe boat with graceful lines and an attractive gaff rig. This design, combined with modern fiberglass construction, results in an ideal boat for sailors of discriminating tast - and no sandbags needed! She makes a comfortable family daysailer that is easy to sail and maintain. She is trailerable by a small car. (Less than 1,000 lb., cat and trailer) The mast can be easily removed. The tabernacle option allows you to leave the sail and all running rigging in place. Her fine lines are a mark of an easily driven hull, while her hard bilge's and great beam give her ample stability to carry her large, efficient sail. This combination produces a fast, responsive boat that is handy to sail.
