Description

From a small standard rhib which offered no protection for the crew, nowadays a rhib should be a more flexible multirole platform where modularity and multirole is very important in order to adapt to the different evolving situations. The required role can be very diverse, from riverine operations, beaching and landing to high speed interception and offshore patrolling. And because of shrinking budgets, navies are looking for one fast platform which can be adjusted to the required role. Madera Ribs has designed the MPAC, Multi Purpose Assault Craft in order to meet these requirements. The MPAC has low draft in order to operate inland on rivers, but also has a high dead rise and high tubes to enable offshore operations such as patrolling and interception. In order to maximize crew safety during riverine operations and or hostile boardings, the MPAC can be fitted with a BPM, ballistic protection module. The Madera Ribs Ballistic Protection System has been developed to provide a safe protective shield of ballistic panels around the crew and embarked forces that when stowed does not restrict the operation of the Craft. Unlike fixed panels which are vulnerable to damage by wave impact, and reduce the speed of the craft due to their high windage, the Madera Ribs system can be stowed during transit and deployed only when needed..
