Hull and propeller are protected by the keel(s) and skeg(s) for drying out and easy scrubbing.
Haka 180 was designed from the start for composite epoxy construction. The hull is a sandwich of glass/Kevlar/AIREX vacuumed on strip planking. The deck is a sandwich of glass/PVC on a plywood inner skin. This gives fast one-off construction together with a high standard of finish.
The CORECELL Bead & Cove system of SAN foam strips set on templates is obviously possible.
The aluminium mast has a rugged and easily handled cutter rig. Its yankee furls well and the staysail will be extremely useful to beat in rough weather.
The carbon mast with rod-rigging is powerful with a non overlapping solent jib to point well. The light sails are tacked from the bowsprit to get the best speed in pleasant conditions.
