Cruising sailboat (tiller steering)
HAKA 133 BM Lerouge yachts

- 13.3m 43' 8"ft Haka 133 is typical of the cruising twin rudders centre boarders designed by Erik LEROUGE. The goal is to obtain a high standard of sailing performance and seaworthiness together with an extremely shoal-draft.
This BM version is specially designed for cold moulded epoxy construction.
This 44 footer is really designed for deep sea voyaging with a desire of self-sufficiency. Her priorities are simplicity and reliability.
The first built went from NEW-ZEALAND to CHILI for her maiden cruise. She continued towards CANADA, then WEST INDIES, EUROPA, BRAZIL, PACIFIC...

Her long waterline gives a good cruising speed and a well-balanced hull. High ballast ratio and powerful sections will give plenty of stability. The pivoting NACA section centreboard ensures good windward performance and allows adjusting the balance under sails. The twin rudders give good control in broaching conditions.
The first boat built had a moderate rig to cope with her sailing program towards the Roaring Forties. A 54' tall rig is also proposed to improve light weather performance in better climates. The cutter rig is rugged and extremely easy to handle. Its yankee furls well and the staysail will be extremely useful to beat in rough weather. A large choice of light sails is available to get the best speed in pleasant conditions.
The accommodation plan shown is ideal for voyaging. Many other layouts are possible with up to three double cabins.

The flush-deck is extremely strong and easy to built. Its coach-roof shelters a small cockpit and the companionway. Another alternative is a longer cockpit leading to a bathing platform.
