Cruising sailboat
HAKA 86
Lerouge yachts
- 8.61m
28' 3"ft
There are many ways of voyaging and Haka 86 is a tool to meet people without offending them with a luxurious yacht. The first built in Italy has cruised to Thailand.
This is an extremely basic boat to be self-sufficient and left alone on a beach to stay ashore for a while.
She has the maximum beam to be trailerable for cheap transport, to avoid harbours to winter at home between two adventures.
We optimised the hull shape to obtain a sustained cruising speed, comfortable motion and easy steering with a windvane.
The pivoting board provides the shoalest draft to approach beaches, dry out in tidal anchorages or sail up rivers.
Foam-sandwich construction is immensely strong while the deck is built from flat panels to save building time. She would be easily adapted to strip planking construction.
The superstructures are designed to help recovering from a capsize.
The sail plan is rugged with a low centre of pressure. The staysail will help to claw from a lee shore in a gale.
The accommodation plan is suited to passages while keeping a cosy double cabin for harbours. The raised deck provides standing headroom, all round visibility and proper ventilation.
The cockpit is well protected by the cabin while the clean deck layout is perfect for sail handling.
Among the practical details, one can note the mast on tabernacle, the mooring stowage or the centreboard, which can be lifted inside the boat.
