The "Open Launch" configuration of the SOMES SOUND 26 diverges from the more extensive accommodations we offer in the larger vessels.
The hull design embodies an easily driven semi-displacement hull which is relatively light and very maneuverable. It is in keeping with the traditional lines and function of our Maine lobster boat. In addition, it incorporates some of the contemporary performance concepts. The bow entry sections have a modified "V" shape including lifting strakes and spray rails. The midship and after sections gravitate into a flat, straight runout with "soft round chine." She carries her 9'2" - beam well aft, yet does not appear boxy due to the lovely round tumble-home curvature of the transom. The sheer is also somewhat remarkable being relatively low aft, affording easy access to the water, local boat floats, and boat docks.
