Hydraulic Power Units are an integral part of a power steering system and provide the 'muscle' (or power) to move the steering gear, and ultimately, the rudder, against the forces of the sea. We offer two main types of power units: non follow-up and full follow-up.The choice of the type determines the performance characteristics of the steering system. A non follow-up power unit (also called a "time dependent" power unit) generally operates either full on or full off.
A Jastram full follow-up power unit operates smoothly and precisely in proportion to the command of the control system.
Both types of Jastram Hydraulic Power Units are available in a wide selection of sizes and designs to meet electrical supply and rudder speed requirements.
