All centrifugal pumps musttobe located belowtheseawater lineand as closetothe
centre line of the boat as possible. This prevents exposure above the water when the vessel is in heavy seas. It must be remembered that air is trapped each time the bow of the boat is pushing forward into the next wave. This air can make it's wayintotheseawater inlet andfromthereintotheseawater pump. Thepump must to be securely mounted, preferably in a horizontal position with the discharge higher that theintakeport. All of theabovehelps toprevent air locks that cancause the pump to cease operation and cause premature damage to the components, especially to the compressor of the air conditioner. Most seawater pumps supplied are not self p riming pumps by design, so correct below water installation shouldbecarriedout.
