Hydraulic power winches are driven by the boat’s central hydraulic system. The same power source can be used to drive other functions: furlers, vangs, backstays, lifting keels, etc.

Hydraulic winches sizes 60 and larger may be special ordered with three speeds for very high line speeds under low load. The three-speed 1140 has an additional backwind option—useful on large yachts for relieving the load on the winch before releasing the sheet.

Winches operate using waterproof switches located near the winch. A locking handle—inserted when the winch is not under load—automatically disconnects the electric motor gearbox. The disconnect mechanism prevents handle and winch rotation when the switch is activated.
