The hull and deck are hand laid up in accordance with approved laminates and procedures. The standard hull and deck colour is off white (ref. LR #8981). In the hull a combination of woven roving and chopped strand mat are used with thickness increasing towards the keel. There is a reinforcing balsa core in the topsides which stops at six inches above the waterline. Vinylester resin is used for the initial layers below the waterline. The ballast keel is encapsulated entirely within the hull moulding. The deck moulding has a balsa or PVC foam core which is replaced with plywood in high stress areas where fittings are attached. A two part epoxy barrier coat paint is applied below the boot-top for extra anti-osmosis protection.
