Cruiser-racer sailboat (carbon mast, open transom)
Z39
Hakes Marine
- 11.89m
39' 0"ft
The Z39 was the winner of a design competition commissioned by Yachting New Zealand. A boat that had a strict design brief of being 85% racer and 15% cruiser. It had to cater for both the annual two week Kiwi holiday with Mum and the kids, yet throughout the year be capable of keeping Dad entertained at the highest level of yacht racing. Performance is achieved on the yacht through a very efficient hull form and sail plan, high lift foils and a light but very stiff structure. The yacht is engineered and constructed tough enough to be capable of offshore racing such blue water classics as the Sydney-Hobart. Yet the modern large open cockpit and under deck controls means she sports the ultimate grand prix efficiency for around the buoys racing.
