The Contender Performance Aramid range incorporates the latest thinking in fiber selection and scrim formation to create a line of laminates which will meet a wide range of performance Grand Prix applications.
The new GW and G-TT (GranWhite and GranWhite with taffetas on both sides) finish for the film on film AK styles incorporates a White TiO2 (titanium dioxide) UV block in the adhesive chemistry to better shield the fibers from UV damage. By impregnating and encapsulating the fiber bundles with the UV absorbing adhesive, we can provide an effective barrier against fiber strength loss due to UV radiation in both GW & G-TT.
To make the best protected product available, the G-TT has two TiO2 "pre-scinned" lighter than standard Taffetas, laminated one on each side of our GW line, making a tripple uv-block product, a real Gransegel invention. These leading edge fabrics create durable sails with unmatched performance.
GW and G-TT, laminates are built on the strong foundation of the original AK styles featuring high modulus aramid fibers, K-49/T-2200, increasing fill strength as warp dpi goes up, and our 35° Spectra grid for greater off-angle stability.
The AK range includes counts of 3,6,9,14,18, and 24,000 dpi. In all cases, AK laminates feature more Kevlar® content in the warp than competing styles, a benefit that means lower stretch for greater performance.
