International competition and economic pressure are also influencing the work of pilots today. That is why rapid and competitive transport boots are needed. But also maximum safety is important as the transfer of a pilot is often carried out in heavy waves and at high speed. Due to its high initial stability, a catamaran is better suited to this than a mono-hulled boat.
For this, FINTRY-Brødrene combines the tried-and-tested catamaran design with a new composite structure made of vinylester resins and carbon fibres. This means that our boats can fulfil the criteria with regard to functionality, longevity and cost efficiency and thus meet the requirements of both the pilots and the operators. Each hull of our ‘FINTRY-Brødrene Pilot Vessel 18m’ is equipped with two adjacent crossovers for the pilots. A new fender system makes safe transfer at a speed of up to 15 knots possible. To guarantee safety in icy and snow conditions too, the deck area of the crossovers and the railing can be heated. Our pilot catamaran is powered by two diesel engines, each with 368 kilowatt output, and can be moved very quickly and easily in port, too.
The ‘FINTRY-Brødrene Pilot Vessel 18m’ is built and accepted according to the rules of the British Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) and the rules for high-speed craft (IMO High Speed Craft Code 2000).
