Our ‘Fintry-Brødrene Fast Ferry 36m’ is one of a new generation of commercial ships. Not only does the catamaran ferry transport passengers safely and quickly, it also offers the operators additional advantages. Its innovative design means low operating costs and a long lifetime. Our catamaran is thus extremely economical. Depending on the model, there is space for up to 283 passengers on the two decks. The travelling speed is 30 knots.
Like all catamarans, the ‘Fintry-Brødrene Fast Ferry 36m’ is based on a new composite structure made of vinylester resins in connection with carbonsandwich-construction. Compared with conventional aluminium constructions, this design means that the boat has a considerably lower overall weight. Lower fuel consumption and higher speeds can thus be achieved with the same engine performance. In addition, our catamaran has better running characteristics than a one-hulled ship and meets the growing requirements in passenger transport.
The ‘Fintry-Brødrene Fast Ferry 36m’ is built and accepted according to the rules for high-speed craft (IMO High Speed Craft Code 2000). Approval is given according to the regulations of the British Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) for Fast Ferries. The independent foundation Det Norske Veritas is entrusted with the classification.
