Squall Sailrig Kits are available for the Lightspeed Phoenix 175, Quantum 191 and Phantom 225 (tandem) models, our new Evolution 1610, and adaptable to many other manufacturers models. These are the highest performance sailrigs for kayaks on the market today. Starting with one of our kayaks (the ONLY kayak built with a balanced foil rudder necessary for efficient handling under sail) the speed, comfort and ease of use are unsurpassed.
Our outriggers aren't toy-like in proportion. Each outrigger has 250 lbs of flotation, and is set 6' from the centreline of the hull. This provides 1500 lbs of righting leverage to keep the main hull solidly on its feet. It also provides the sails with LOTS to push against, and translates into head snapping acceleration in gusts.
All other sail kits for kayaks, even those LOOKING LIKE high performance, high pointing sails are cut to be far better reaching or off the wind. Our entire setup is designed to go fast and point high, while still allowing stellar off-wind performance!
The entire assembly goes together and apart in under 5 minutes and is very user-friendly.
