Curtain booms can be used in rivers, estuaries, harbours or coastlines (slight sea). Flotation is provided by thick foam blocks with closed cells which are 80cm to 1m long to provide flexibility. Curtain booms have a higher buoyancy weight ratio than Fence booms, offering a better response to waves when being towed.
Curtain booms can be stored on reels or rack systems. (P9)
By changing the "skirt" (draft) of the boom to a geotextile it can be used to contain waste such as; gravel, sediment etc. (2 to 10m depth)
