20 years ago Brandt-Møller's Boatyard started to build the 'New Classic' Nordic Folkboat - a Folkboat with the combination of a GRP hull and mahogany accommodation. The 'New Classic' version became very popular from the start, and the sailors loved it, because it gives you the feeling of being in a wooden boat, but at the same time you have the easy maintenance of the GRP hull - a very good combination. Starting with the GRP hull the rest of the boat will be built in the traditional way with beams for the deck and the deck made of marine plywood covered with GRP, painted with anti slip - or covered with teak. If you are afraid of the maintenance of the woodwork, now-a-days materials are so strong that the varnish keeps up to 5 years in ordinary wear and tear. We have customers coming every 10th year and the varnish still looks nice - customers, who are sailing many regattas. - We just sand and varnish the woodwork for another 10 years.
