The RAstar 3400 Class tug is a twin Z-drive, diesel powered terminal support and tanker escort tug, designed for maximum efficiency in the performance of ship-handling, escort, and related offshore terminal support activities. The vessel is equipped with a double drum hawser winch forward and heavy bow fendering forward for ship-assist and escort work, and an aft winch and stern roller for towing and terminal support duties.

The hull, deckhouse, and wheelhouse are of welded steel construction. The vessel is fully equipped for fire-fighting duties to a Fi-Fi 1 standard, plus waterspray.

To maximize the capability, the tug features strongly flared topsides above the waterline and a deep skeg biased forward.
