Description

Axminster is a woven carpet quality. We produce custom design Axminster carpet using pre dyed yarns in an 80/20 wool blend. Our flexible range of looms, all equipped with electronic jacquard, gives unlimited design possibilities. Contract Axminster is using up to 7 colors and range from 1300 g/m2 to 2300 g/m2 and offers the possibility to choose from 100 cm to 400 cm weaving widths. This makes it possible to optimize the carpet consumption and by that to minimize installation costs. Axminster carpets are used for areas where longevity and design flexibility are essential. The high quality is suitable for public areas like main halls, corridors, and restaurants and gives a feeling of ultimate luxury and a perfect indoor climate. Axminster is a carpet that provides supreme underfoot luxury with high performance. Axminster carpet was originally made in a factory founded at Axminster, Devon, England, in 1755 by the cloth weaver Thomas Whitty. The Whitty factory closed in 1835 with the advent of machine-made carpeting. The name Axminster, however, survived as a generic term for machine-made carpets whose pile is produced by techniques similar to those used in making velvet or chenille. Our wool blend: Because quality is the very heart of what we do, we select materials of the finest quality. Wool is still recognised as the best fibre for use in carpets and in a blend with nylon its wear properties improves. An 80/20 blend of wool/nylon is generally recognised as the most suitable and durable make up of a carpet for use in heavy traffic areas, for instance in hotels, on cruise liners, ferries, in restaurants, theatres, cinemas and casinos.
