ON DECK
The compromise between looks and headroom have been the biggest struggle for the 20 to 30 foot market. With a spacious cockpit and relatively low coach roof line we think the Crabber 24 is a real looker! But what about headroom?
When sailing the headroom is not so important but when safely moored up it is nice to stand comfortably in the saloon, galley and heads. On the new Crabber 24 MkV we have designed a coach roof inspired by the Camper vans we see all over Cornwall. A ‘Pop Top’ saloon companionway has been incorporated to increase the headroom by 14 inches when not at sea. What a great solution with a magical application that just works like it should.
BELOW DECKS
With a design brief including a well appointed cockpit space the interior of a 24 footer needs to be well thought out. Engine location and lifting keel design will define the space available and we think we have cracked it. A U – shaped seating arrangement in the saloon gives great space for four adults to sit and enjoy supper or breakfast. A flip up forward seat back creates extra space for single saloon berths and a generous double v berth. The open plan arrangement leaves space for a separate heads compartment and a neat galley. An option to swap a cockpit locker for an aft quarter berth is also available for those looking for 5 berths.
