The red gate is flipped up by hand to keep the rope out of the alloy cleat and prevent unintentional entry of the rope into the cleat. The CL237 is a modified CL201. Also available in Aluminium - CL238. For larger size ropes, look at the Nylon CL239 or Aluminium CL240.
