Launched on 17 September 1988, lier design looks back to the American mot or bout s with fine Unes which were used in the 1930s to fis h for crayfish: long, narrow and with a low freeboard. This is not an iso/ated experiment, in that motorboats hâve been built at Lavagna front tire earliest days; this experience lias been repeated at irregnlar intervais with a number ofpilot boats, and today with modem offshore powerboats.

Secondo Pensiero is a motorboat designed by Franco Anselmi Roretti. Slie lias a semi-planing hull almost 20 métrés long, an imperious bow and a traditional glass wheelhouse, with a little sail to hold the bow into the wind when at anchor for fishing. She was built with four crossed layers of mahogany planking glued with epoxy resin using the West System, making a tliickness of 44 millimétrés; the external layer was arranged longitudinally. Powered by two M AN 510 Hp engines, she can reacli a maximum speed of22 knots and maintain a cruising speed of 18 knots. The whole deck is teak and lier hardware is made of brass and bronze, while the interior is Jinished with Jigured mahogany, giving the vessel an air of timeless distinction.
