ZOOM8 opens a brand new chapter in youth sailing. As safe for the beginners as it is challenging for the experienced cracks, it fulfils every youngsters dream. Within this class, ZOOM8 sailors already meet up in races across the national borders, and training is held with ZOOM8 in several leading Nordic sailing clubs. Licensed production on several continents will start during 1999, thus guaranteeing an equal prize all over the world. ZOOM8 is an internationally recognized one-design class, with internationally recognized class rules (ISAF). ZOOM8 is delivered completely equipped. As no changes are allowed, all sailors have an equal chance on the course. As the international one-design rules forbid any kind of additional equipment the equipment circus, known in other dinghy classes, is not even possible. This is a big advantage for both the sailor's and the parents' wallet! Finnish Yachting Association have recognized the boat as a one-design class. A group of enthusiastic young dinghy sailors, bored with their old fleet, were given the opportunity to list their ideas for a new and modern dinghy. This list, combined with the design experience of Henrik Segercrantz, M.Sc., Naval Architect, formed the basis for planning. In this rapidly changing world nobody seemed to have given the young generation much of a thought.
