Diesel engine, 4 stroke, direct injection, turbocharged, with charge air intercooling.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
Cast iron cylinder block, highly ribbed
Built up cast iron liners, wet type, guided at mid height to reduce vibrations and improve cooling of upper part
Two cylinder heads (each one for 3 cylinders), in special cast iron, extremely rigid
Attachment of cylinder heads on cylinders block by high strength steel bolts
2 valves per cylinder with built up guides and seat
Special forged steel crankshaft, 7 bearings, with integrated counter weights and hardened journals and connecting radius
Camshaft side mounted in cylinder block
Distribution system with tempered special steel gears
Forged steel connecting rods, with oblique head cut and "viper head" shaped foot
Light alloy pistons
High performance piston rings (three rings of which superior one is in molybdenum)
Double circuit heat exchanger, with oversized tube type core
