Before the arrival of polyester and aluminium, the canoes were built out of wood. One finds still today canoes in small slats (strip-planking) but one did not find any any more with covering joint, because of complexity of this traditional method of construction. Thanks to the system of ?joining to rabbet? patented Lapstitch?, it is again possible to easily build these splendid canoes with covering joint.

Sassafras 12? Length: 3.66 m, width: 0.71 m, weight: 11.8 kg. Max. load: 120 kg.
The two models of Sassafras are equipped with compartments tight with before and to the back. In comparison with the regulation, Sassafras 12 is a ?machine of beach? because it is a ?boat driven exclusively by the human energy? of less than 4 m length, its navigation at sea is thus limited to 300 meters of the coast. It can take on board an adult. Sassafras 16 is a ?boat driven exclusively by the human energy? of more than 4 m length, not car-videuse, its navigation at sea is thus limited to 2 miles of a shelter (in condition of being registered and to have on board the corresponding material of safety). It can take on board three adults.
