American Airboat AirRanger hulls are constructed from the finest marine alloy: .5086 aluminum with H-32 temper/H116. This superior marine alloy was developed by the U.S. Navy and is always specified on Navy contracts where strength and durability are considerations. There are four alloys commonly used in aluminum boat construction, 5086 is by far the strongest. The standard Air Ranger Airboat is 8 ft. wide by 16 ft. long. (12 ft. to 24 ft. are common lengths) Other lengths and widths can be specified on a custom designed boat. When the boat is over 8' 6" ft. wide there are some towing restrictions in some states. Materials are commonly shipped in 20 ft. lengths which means that boats longer than 20 ft. may have some welded seams.
