Description
The two Eco Ship Buses of Toulon are fitted with a hybrid energy-propulsion system designed and supplied by AltEn. Two electric motors propel the ship and energy is supplied either by batteries either by a generator. These ships sail across roadstead of Toulon (a 5km - 3.1 miles trip) 30 times per day. They sail using the 100% electric mode at 7 knots while approaching harbour (half of the time) and at 12 knots using generator while crossing the roadstead.With these ships, AltEn proves its capacity to fit ship with hybrid systems showing a significant electric power.
