Rowing shell : competition single scull
STAR SINGLE

Available in either fiberglass with carbon reinforcements or full carbon fiber, the Alden STAR single is just under 22' long with a waterline beam of 18.4". This shell handles well in open water and is referred to by some racing shell owners as their "Afternoon Boat" because of its ability to be rowed safely in choppier water. The flat bottom offers the stability for the recreational rower while designed with the sleek lines of a racing shell. The fiberglass/carbon version is light enough at 45 pounds fully rigged to carry or cartop, yet sturdy enough for a 275-pound rower. It's a very popular model at clubs and cottages alike.

This design went through three prototypes before finally being molded into what we know today. Alden's first boat designed specifically for flat water, the STAR is the first and only of our boats with a square stern. It has proven to be faster than the Martin Trainer (our formerly fastest boat) and is readily available either in fiberglass with carbon reinforcement (hybrid) or full carbon fiber. We stock both versions in a variety of colors including a clear gel coat on the all carbon boat that truly brings out the beauty of the black carbon material. While the carbon fiber version is more expensive, it is noticeably lighter in weight.
