Cruiser-racer sailboat (open transom, twin steering wheel)
SCUDERIA 42
Adria Sail
- 12.7m
41' 8"ft
At the end of the 2009 offshore racing season, limiting the analysis to the two most important races which took place in the Mediterranean, namely the ORC World Championship and the Campionato Italiano Assoluto d'Altura, it has been possible to carry out a detailed evaluation of the composition of the fleet and an in depth analysis of individual yachts, subsequently comparing them with their performance in regatta.
The analyses conducted on the fleet and the individual boats have defined the characteristics of the project for the new 42-foot Cruiser/Racer to be built in a limited production series.
The yacht is designed for competition in ORC regattas contested in compliance with the IMS Measurement System, but the design also considers the growing interest for the participation in regattas that use, for the time correction, the allowance calculated according to the IRC Rule. The recent introduction (2008) by the ORC of a default value of the righting moment (RM Default), calculated on the basis of the characteristics of the individual yachts, enables us to produce new cruisers/racers that clearly differ in terms of characteristics from the current fleet and indicate what will probably be the trend that in future will also shape the production of cruisers/racers.
