Sub-Atlantic's range of hydraulic thrusters have become the preferred propulsion for ROVs and cable burial/maintenance vehicles. Working in a highly aggressive environment, they have earned a reputation for reliability, efficiency and exceptional performance.
Sub-Atlantic hydraulic thrusters are reliable due to a rugged, lightweight contruction and a ceramic shaft sealing system. These thrusters also benefit from producing near equal forward/reverse efficiency within a 5% band. The data from our performance testing has been witnessed by DNV to ensure your system design performs exactly as expected. These thrusters also benefit from the ability to fit any motor displacement size to any of the four marine thruster sizes due to the common, one-size motor/thruster interface. This is advantageous when accuratly matching to vehicle hydraulic system parameters. |
|
Sub-Atlantic’s new direct drive range of brushless DC thrusters break new ground in thrust, low weight and enhanced reliability. They are currently available in four sizes, each incorporating Sub-Atlantic’s unique StatorshieldTM technology.
Sub-Atlantic’s unique StatorshieldTM system allows the marine thruster to continue running in the event of a shaft seal failure and subsequent flooding, without damage to the winding or electronic components. Integral electronic drives are oil for boat filled and pressure compensated to 3000 metres / 10,000 feet. Four sizes are available with propeller for boat diameters up to 380 mm / 15” and bollard thrusts up to 220 kgf / 485 lbf. |

The best selling Seaeye Tiger is the yard stick by which all other small electric ROVs are measured in the offshore oil and gas industry. Very powerful, easy to fly and rated for operations to 1000 metres, the Seaeye Tiger is the industry work horse for observation, inspection, search, survey and diver support. It is also operated by military clients in support of search, rescue and salvage operations.
|
|
The Seaeye Panther Plus replaces the Panther for survey and drill support operations in the oil for boat and gas industry providing an economical alternative to traditional hydraulic work class ROVs.
The specification was developed in partnership with ROVTECH whose requirements were to minimise the system's weight and deck space requirements while increasing the thrust and performance envelope to allow operations in the most demanding conditions encountered during IRM operations.
ROVTECH claim that their Panthers can still keep going after their hydraulic ROVs have to be recovered in the strongest Southern North Sea currents. Also widely used in the Middle East for pipe for boat survey and in Vietnam for drill support and survey operations by PTSC.

Sub-Atlantic’s fully electric MOHAWK remotely operated vehicle is a small compact, high performance professional ROV system which can be used for a variety of underwater tasks including observation, survey, NDT inspections and tooling.
This small, professional inspection ROV delivers exceptionally high thrust in all directions from Sub-Atlantic’s reliable AC power marine thruster system. Mohawk provides high quality video for inspection work but also has the capabilities for running underslung tool packages such as tree valve torque tools, high pressure water jetting boat pumps and small hydraulic or electric manipulators.
Mohawk is rated at 1000 msw / 3280 fsw standard but can be easily upgraded to 2000 msw / 6560 fsw. Mohawk uses a small diameter main lift for boats cable which reduces the Launch and Recovery System requirements and vessel deck space. |

| The Seaeye Lynx was developed to meet an original specification from Acergy. Larger than the Tiger but with similar performance, this system has two vertical thrusters and additional outlets and power supplies for survey sensors. A variety of interchangeable tooling skids can be fitted. Thales also operate this system that replaces the earlier Seaeye Puma. For a small increase in cost this system is a very effective deeper rated alternative to the Seaeye Tiger. |
|
The original Seaeye Cougar was developed in close cooperation with Italian ROV operator DNT Offshore whose requirements were for a compact ROV requiring the minimum deck space but with a work capability that was to include survey, drill support IRM and touch down monitoring. This was achieved by creating a series of task specific tool skids the could be carried by a smaller ROV and be changed over quickly.
In 2007 the Cougar-XT was introduced with power to the vehicle doubled by increasing the supply voltage from 250 VDC to 500 VDC resulting in an increase of 50% thrust in all directions.

In a direct attack on the hydraulic ROV market, Saab Seaeye has launched an innovative new concept in electric work ROVs. Called the Seaeye Jaguar, it is now the largest in their range and the most advanced of its type in the world.
Its launch marks the introduction of an entirely new generation of electric underwater vehicles with technological innovations set to maintain the company’s lead in the electric ROV market.
The Seaeye Jaguar has the highest payload and thrust in its class, with a clever new simplified control system that makes it easy to pilot.
At under half the weight of its hydraulic ROV equivalent, with a smaller footprint, and needing fewer operators, the Seaeye Jaguar can bring significant savings in operating costs.
With a power to weight ratio that is by far the best in its class, the Jaguar will bring the precise control associated with Seaeye’s ROV technology to an ever wider range of heavy duty work tasks.
Operators will also welcome the faster training of new pilots and conversion of experienced pilots that is now possible with the new simplified control system. Its built-in intelligence, with fewer and more intuitive controls, has lightened the burden on the pilot by making it easier to manage the ROV. |

Our Comanche Work-Class electric ROV benefits from enhanced capabilities provided by a powerful control system, proportional work-class manipulator arms, tooling hydraulic system, survey interfaces and generous payload capacity.
Comanche incorporates a fully electric, seven marine thruster propulsion system, configured to provide high thrust and lifting capability. It uses a 3000 Volt, 400 Hz power transmission system from surface to ROV resulting in a small tether, main lift for boat cable and launch/recovery system. This transmission system makes it particularly suited for long tether excursions and deep live-boating operations. Comanche is equipped with additional power sources to allow the use of a 15 kW / 20 hp hydraulic marine power unit for running tools and work skids and for rig support intervention tasks. When compared with hydraulic work-class systems, the Comanche provides important customer benefi ts with regard to capital and operational expenditure, simplicity of use and requires less deck space. |

The initial LBC was an all in one ROV/Crawler. Extensive testing, demonstrations and feedback have resulted in a Convertible type system. In its standard form the LBC is a fully capable MiniROV system offering all the capabilities of the LBV type systems. When conditions exceed the capability of ROV mode or more precise control is required simply attach the crawler skid and adhere to the hard surface.
This unique combination of ROV and Crawler capability makes LBC an incredibly well rounded and capable system. Consider when operating an ROV for sailboat ship hull inspections, unless conditions are ideal, the task can be challenging. Current flow can often make maintaining a stable position for accurate object identification difficult. Add turbid or black water conditions and the difficulty escalates. Additionally, once an object is located precisely identifying the object and its position on the ship hull have their own challenges.
The concept of creating a crawler that attaches to the ship hull helps to reduce and even eliminate the difficulties encountered. There are two primary inspection methods for the LBC.
ROV MODE (3D) - the LBC operates as a free flying ROV in ROV MODE without the crawler skid attached.
CRAWLER MODE (2D) - should conditions hinder the ability to maintain a stable position and accurately acquire the required video and data the LBC can quickly be fitted with the Crawler skid (less than 5 minutes). |
