The CR30W is a sophisticated charge regulator for 12 V or 24 V DC small wind applications based on a special micro-controller.
The regulation is done by a shunt load (power resistors) which is switched by the regulator to prevent overcharging. Therefore the wind generator can be connected directly to the battery and never runs unloaded.
The micro controller together with a smart electronic circuit provides high-efficiency charging technology combined with a reduction in the number of electronic components. Therefore excellent battery treatment is now available at reasonable cost and with outstanding reliability even at tough environmental conditions.
The self-adjusting, temperature-compensated three-stage PWM charging method (constant current - boost/equalization – float) provides a significant increase of the battery lifetime.
The charge controller adjusts itself to battery type, battery capacity and ambient temperature to improve battery treatment.
The CR 30 W can also switch off consumer loads up to 20 A automatically for deep discharge protection. .

The charge regulator CRM is especially suitable for marine applications. It is completely sealed and thus effectively protected against the marine environment.
The regulator has two separate outputs, which can be used to charge two battery sets separately (eg. starter battery and service battery on a yacht). The two outputs can be connected together if only a single battery shall be charged. More than two separate battery sets are charged by wiring additional diode units between the batteries. For adaption to different types of batteries the charging voltage can be adjusted in a range of +/- 20 %
Important: An advantage of the CRM is that it only regulates the voltage of the wind turbine. It is not influenced by (and does not influence) other power sources connected to the battery like alternators, gensets etc.

The Voltage Sensitive Relay (VSR) allows two batteries to be charged at the same time. When the engine is started and the start battery reaches 13.7 volts, the VSR engages, allowing two battery banks (start and house) to be charged simultaneously. When the voltage drops below 12.8 volts (eg the engine is stopped), the VSR disengages, separating the batteries. This system eliminates the possibility of draining the start battery and protects sensitive electronic equipment powered from the house battery from harmful engine start up spikes.

Many on board installations consist of two or more batteries which supply power to 12 or 24V equipment separately from each other. Naturally, this means that the charge system also has to be divided. This makes a charger system more complicated because either the Mastervolt alternator or battery charger will have to recharge the batteries individually.
Best and safest results can be achieved by using a high-quality Mastervolt battery isolator for the tailored supply of charge current to several batteries. This reliable solution allows simultaneous charging of two batteries from an alternator and/or battery charger without connecting the batteries together. Because of this the charge current becomes isolated, meaning it is prevented starter batteries and the ones supplying the lightning and bowthruster drain each other while output is optimal.

The IC Series Intelligent Battery Chargers offer an ideal way of charging any type of lead acid battery safely and reliably. The rugged, fully protected unit (IP65) can be used in a variety of applications including on trucks, off road vehicles, boats, caravans and in depots and workshops.
The Alfatronix IC Series is suitable for all types of lead acid batteries. Charging is through a 3 stage system. The first stage is the bulk charging phase. This state is indicated when the yellow LED is illuminated and continues through to stage 2 of the process. When the current is below 10% of the maximum output, the charger automatically adjusts to reduce the output voltage to reliably top up the battery. At this stage the green LED is illuminated indicating that the battery is fully charged. Should the voltage level fall below the nominal values during the maintenance stage, the charger will go back to step one and repeat the process.
